Dr Jo Newton (YG 2006) Named in the Final Three of the First National Real Estate Leadership Award
Congratulations to alumna Dr Jo Newton (YG 2006) who has been named in the final three of the First National Real Estate Leadership Award of the 2018 Victorian Young Achiever Awards. These awards acknowledge young people who set an example through their leadership and drive, paving the way for others to follow.
Jo is a passionate research geneticist currently working with the dairy industry. Eight years ago she founded the Farming Futures Project at the University of New England – a careers fair showcasing agricultural opportunities, and today she mentors young scientists and visits schools to encourage students to realise their own agricultural journey. She has been recognised with the 2017 Dairy Research Foundation Symposium’s Emerging Scientists Award and the 2018 Endeavour Research Fellowship. Whilst at Tintern Jo was the Young Farmers Captain in Year 11 and 12, as well as the Sustainable Futures Captain in Year 12.
Congratulations again Jo and best of luck for the final!
