Junior Schools Wheelathon
On Friday 1 March our Junior Schools will be having a Wheelathon to support the Wheelchairs For Kids organisation.
This remarkable volunteer organisation, comprised of local retiree volunteers, and supported by the Rotary Club, produces and distributes over 300 wheelchairs per month to disabled children in third world, or developing, countries. Today our Junior School girls and boys attended a very inspiring Assembly where two members of the Wheelchairs For Kids organisation spoke about their wonderful work and showed a video outlining the amazing life-changing impact that their work has upon thousands of people.
During our ‘Wheelathon’, our girls and boys will push and/or be pushed around a course, using the wheelchairs made by the volunteers, to raise money for this organisation. Please note that the circuit for each class will vary, and be age appropriate. We will also be running a sausage sizzle as a part of the event.
Every $200 we raise on the day buys one wheelchair. In 2017, we managed to raise more than $7000, a wonderful achievement. We would dearly love to surpass this amount in 2019!
