Lanna Derry (Head of Science) – Chemistry Educator of the Year.
Congratulations to Lanna Derry (Head of Science) for recently being awarded with the Chemistry Educator of the Year Award.
Lanna was honoured by the Chemistry Education Association (CEA) at their annual dinner on Thursday 9 December. This is a Victorian teachers association with over 1000 members.
The award is presented annually to a member of the CEA who is considered to be an outstanding teacher with a long history of leadership in secondary school chemistry. Lanna was recognised for her for work and leadership in and beyond the classroom, over the past 36 years. This has included authoring more than ten VCE and IB Chemistry text books and revision guides, including the text books for the VCE study design due to start in 2023, presentation of revision lectures for schools in country Victoria and low SES areas, mentoring of new Chemistry teachers, and for her 6 years of work on the CEA committee as secretary and president.
