Senior Flute Ensemble takes out 3rd place at Flute Guild Competition
The Senior Flute Ensemble, consisting of Zoë, Amber and I, competed at the Annual Flute Ensemble Competition organised by the Victorian Flute Guild on Sunday 26 May. The event was held at the Performing Arts Centre of the Methodist Ladies’ College in Kew. We represented Tintern Grammar for the ’18 Years and Under Small Ensembles’ section. Our ensemble performed two beautiful pieces, a Gigue by Boismortier and Aubade by Paul Kopek, ably accompanied on the piano by Ms Janette Patton for the second piece.
We received some very constructive and positive feedback from the two adjudicators of the competition. They particularly liked our group’s sonority, the blending of tones and our ensemble’s cohesiveness in general. We were placed 3rd at the competition, a tremendous achievement for our first competition as an ensemble!
It was a lovely afternoon of beautiful music from all the other groups. Today’s competition was a good experience and exposure for the ensemble.
