About the Role

After nearly 20 years of outstanding and dedicated service to our music students, our double reed specialist teacher will be departing Tintern Grammar. Commencing Term 1, 2025 Tintern Grammar is seeking an experienced, energised and enthusiastic teacher specialising in Oboe, in particular, to join us with an initial load of 4 - 4.5 hours of face-to-face teaching and tutoring. An ability to teach bassoon also would be looked upon favourably. The successful applicant is expected to be organised, to make a positive contribution to the vibrant musical life of the school and work co-operatively as a member of our dynamic music teaching team. They will teach students on an individual and group basis, with the possibility of participating in our Training Band Program, and must be able to relate to students across a range of ages in both the Primary and Secondary sections of the school. This load should increase with time as enrolments grow. Our preference would be to employ a teacher who is available to attend the school on Fridays.

About You

The successful applicant will have proven experience teaching this subject, will be able to demonstrate a high level of technical and performing ability, excellent communication and organisational skills. Current VIT Registration or a Working With Children Check is essential. There should be availability to build upon this load and increase it in the future.

 Applicants will be required to:

  •  Teach Oboe on an individual and shared basis
  •  Keep accurate attendance rolls
  • Prepare students for performances and examinations in accordance with both AMEB and VCE syllabi
