Year 2 Girls’ Farm Visit
Year 2 girls appreciated a wonderful farm visit last week! Reflecting on our Simple Machines unit of study from Term 2, the girls really enjoyed searching for examples of simple machines which are used on the farm to make Farmer Wall’s work easier. Examples they found included, the ramps (inclined planes) for the animals to move around, the spinning fleece sorting table sitting atop a wheel and axle construction and the lever operated wool bale press. The girls absolutely loved helping Farmer Wall round up the sheep by forming a human chain! Reflecting on how fortunate they are to have a farm at Tintern Grammar, the girls went on to write a collaborative persuasive text piece with the purpose of convincing the reader about the benefits of having a farm at school.
