Yoga in the Junior School
Yoga is a wonderful practice that supports both the mind and the body. With a strong focus in our Junior Schools on establishing mindfulness routines within each classroom, the Year 1 and 2 boys have been exploring the world of yoga, undertaking a consistent practice two to three times each week. Starting the day with a short session of yoga is supportive in the development of body awareness and teaches the students to use their bodies in a healthy way. Yoga is a non-competitive activity, which improves concentration and provides a calming environment to increase confidence and to nurture the development of self-awareness. A worthwhile activity to complement the ongoing practice of mindfulness in our classrooms.
